Philippine Olympic TeamFilipino boxers eye at gold
medals
Sydney, August 28. AMATEUR Boxing Association of the Philippines president, Manny
Lopez, expressed his confidence in the ability of the six Filipino amateur delegate boxers
to win gold medals in the upcoming Olympic Games.

Speaking before a crowd of Filipino
well-wishers during yesterday's presentation of the Philippine Olympic team at the
Filipino Multi-Purpose Centre, Rooty Hill, NSW, Lopez said:
"We have only one aim in coming to the
Olympics. Our aim is immaculate and pure. And it is our intention to end the gold medal
drought that the country has experienced in modern Olympics.
"Sa abot ng aming makakaya, pipilitin naming matamo
ang mga gintong medalya na ating inaasam-asam."
Among those to welcome the Olympic team were Consul-General
Libran Cabactulan, Caloy Loyzaga, and community leaders and media representatives.
Archery
 Jennifer Chan, the countrys top archer, and her coach, Henry
Manalang, were among those who joined the Olympic team yesterday to meet the local
well-wishers. Jennifer, a Silliman University student, is the countrys lone delegate
to the Archery event.
