create our own Filipino world within this global multimedia village; we can reaffirm our
identity across continents, across time and space... May you prosper and spread the word that the Filipino living in
Oz is alive and well, enjoying the blessings of freedom and daring to visit new frontiers
of the imagination."

Welcome. To many of us who had spent some time in the
Philippines during the sixties and seventies, Alfredo "Ding" Roces needs no
introduction. He is widely known for his daily column "Light & Shadow" which
in today's language was a rich 'resource site', and an icon, in arts and culture writings. |

The art works and writings
of Ding Roces are numerous to mention. But one piece of information that needs to be
highlighted is his latest venture into the world of digital technology - where he uses the
new technology in his paintings, using the screen monitor as his canvas and the desktop
mouse, his paintbrush. We at
Emanila.com are indeed privileged to have been commissioned to create, and to showcase
online, The World of Alfredo Roces. We hope that the artist's paintings,
his photography, his writings and his digital art, and the artist's life
itself will inspire all of us, especially the youth, to continue to be proud of the
Filipino culture and heritage.
