Visual Arts group presents ATUBANGAY: Making the Local

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts-Committee on Visual Arts (NCCA-CVA) invites the public to ATUBANGAY: Making the Local, a visual arts exhibit on view at the SM City Cebu Art Center from September 26 to October 12, 2003.
Atubangay: Making the Local is the Visayas component of Sungdu-an 3: Making the Local. Artists from various fields were tasked to collaborate and reflect on the process of interaction as they conceptualized and produced works that attempted to confront local issues and realities. The exhibit features works in mixed media, sculpture, painting, installation, video and performance art. Selected for freshness and relevance of their ideas, commitment to craftsmanship and for involvement in their respective communities, the collaborating artists featured are: matweaver Rosalia Fajardo and sculptor Francisco Zabala; film makers Mariano Montelibano III and Peque Gallaga; potter Joel Hufanda and painter/sculptor PG Zoluaga, painters Jutsze Pamate and Babbu Wenceslao, installation artist Christine Manguerra and furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue and painter Jonathan Verga, The show is curated by Estela Ocampo-Fernandez. Atubangay: Making the Local is organized by the NCCA-CVA in cooperation with PUSOD, Inc. This show is the Visayas component of Sungdu-an 3: Making the Local, a national travelling contemporary visual arts exhibit. The first exhibit representing the NCR opened at the Pasig City Museum last August. Similarly themed shows will be presented in Luzon and Mindanao in October and November, respectively. The SM Cebu Art Center is located at the second level of SM City Cebu, Reclamation area, Cebu City.
